White Bear Lake, Minn. (July 6, 2011) – Century College welcomed its new president, Dr. Ron Anderson, on July 1, following the retirement of President Larry Litecky on June 30. Anderson has been part of the Century College community for five years prior to assuming the presidency, serving initially as vice president of Finance and Administration and more recently as vice president of Academic Affairs.
“At the center of our mission is the success of our students,” Anderson states. “We believe that this success is about more than just ‘the numbers,’ public accountability, and meeting or exceeding benchmarks. It’s about people–transforming their lives, and helping them to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities that can, in turn, transform their families and their communities.
“Along with the faculty and staff of the College, I am committed to extending access to higher education to all students. This means creating environments where everyone has the opportunity and support to succeed in the pursuit of their educational goals.
“So it is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I assume the presidency of Century College,” Anderson continues. “I am a community and technical college educator by choice. I believe in our common mission, and am passionate about the role we play in improving the lives of our students, our communities, and the broader world.”
Prior to joining Century College, Anderson served as vice provost and vice president at Capella University, and as Associate Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. He holds a doctorate in educational psychology and a master’s degree in higher education–both from the University of Minnesota. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Saint Olaf College.
Dr. Anderson resides in New Brighton with his wife, Andrea, and their teenage children, Z and Mari.
