Minneapolis (February 11, 2011) – Greater Twin Cities United Way is accepting applications for the Juliet Evans Nelson Scholarship. The $2,500 scholarship will be awarded by Greater Twin Cities United Way and the Nelson family to an outstanding youth volunteer. Qualified applicants must be high school juniors for the 2010-2011 school year and must live and volunteer in Anoka, Carver, Chisago, Dakota, Hennepin, Isanti, Ramsey, Scott or Washington counties. The student must be planning to enter post-secondary education in the fall of 2012.
The Juliet Evans Nelson Scholarship was established by the Nelson family in 1987 in memory of their daughter, sister and friend, Juliet. The scholarship recognizes the contributions young people make in our community, honors those who demand the best of themselves and who, like Juliet, cherish life and live it with a purpose.
A typed application and two letters of recommendation must be submitted by April 20, 2011 to be eligible. Applications may be obtained by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org with the student’s name and address. The scholarship recipient will be notified in the late spring of 2011.
