Business Executive Scott Smith will share his views on work and life in Japan with a presentation on “Working in Japan Again After 20 Years – What’s Changed and What Remains the Same?”
Smith is the Vice President of Taiyo International. The presentation focuses on his perspectives while working in Japan as a Senior Executive from 2011 to 2013. He has also served on the JASM Board of Directors.
The talk will include the changes that he observed in Japanese society since he worked in Japan for the first time more than 20 years ago. He will mention the deep impact the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami have had on the consciousness of people in Japan.
Has Japan changed during the past 20 years? What has not changed? Hear Mr. Smith share his perspectives on work and life in Japan that he observed during his recent tenure in Japan.
As General Manager of Taiyo Kagaku, a leading Japanese manufacturer of functional ingredients for the food, beverage and supplement industries, Smith focuses on the development of innovative ingredients derived from natural sources to further develop the body’s ability to protect and manage one’s health.
Smith oversees the sales and production of all Taiyo products in North and South America, as well as assists with all global international operations.
Smith graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1991, and joined Taiyo Kagaku in Yokkaichi, Japan in 1992. After several years in Japan, he founded Taiyo’s North American operations in San Francisco, CA in 1994, followed by the opening of Taiyo’s International operations in Minneapolis, MN in 1999.
