Tickets available for African Community Appreciation and Awards Gala in October

Brooklyn Center, Minn. (July 8, 2016) — African Immigrant Services presents is hosting an evening of community celebration and culture in honoring community giving at6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis North, 2200 Freeway Boulevard, Brooklyn Center, MN 55430.

The AIS African Appreciation & Awards Gala (#AISGala2016) will offer food and live entertainment, spoken word poetry, cultural performances, community awards, keynote and a fashion show.  The Gala brings together people of all cultures and leaders in the nonprofit, business, faith-based, public service, philanthropy and other communities.

African Immigrant Services works to inspire civic engagement, to build community assets, and to overcome systemic and cultural barriers. Established by African immigrants to build social capital and community power and increase access to economic opportunities for historically disadvantaged people and communities of color.

African Immigrant Services received the 2013 and 2014 Minnesota African Non-Profit of the Year Award annually hosted by Mshale Newspaper and Books for Africa.
