|You are invited to this event commemorating the Fourth Anniversary of The Great East Japan Earthquake. We are honored to present a special program on the progress being made in northeastern Japan, featuring a keynote address by John Harris, President and Representative Director, Nippon Becton Dickinson Co., Ltd; and presentations by Ichiro Soné, Chief Executive Director, JETRO Chicago; Yasuhiro Nagamatsu, Executive Director, JETRO San Francisco and former Chief Director of JETRO Fukushima; and Joe Dixon, Program Manager – Environmental, PaR Systems, Inc. of Shoreview, Minnesota, a leader in the robotics industry.|
Ichiro Soné, the Chief Executive Director of JETRO Chicago, will set the pace and tone of the program by giving a brief update on the progress of Abenomics and how the policies are designed to sustain the economy of the Tohoku region.
John Harris, whose company, Nippon Beckton Dickinson Co. Ltd., has a factory located in Fukushima, Japan, will share his knowledge on why the company is in Fukushima and how they worked to recover its operations after the disaster. He will also explain the importance that Japan has for Becton Dickinson as a critical market and source of innovation for the medical device industry.
Joe Dixon, Program Manager, Environmental, PaR Systems Inc., (Shoreview, MN) will present on the work being done in Japan especially on the equipment utilized at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant’s Rector 3 as well as the challenges and successes of this particular project. He will provide guidance on future possible work in Fukushima and Japan.
Yasuhiro Nagamatsu, who was the Chief Director of JETRO Fukushima until October 2014, will talk about the current recovery of Fukushima; the strength of its economy; the importance of the Tohoku regional economy and its importance to Japan.
