MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Witiyala Seewalie Nayaka Thera, President and Abbot of the
Minnesota Buddhist Vihara, invites the public to attend Annual Robe Offering Ceremony (Kathina Puja) on Oct. 17-18, 2014 at 3401 N. 4th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55412.
The ceremony begins with Traditional Paritta Chanting by 12 monks on Friday, Oct. 17, from 6 to 11 p.m.
The ceremony continues on Saturday, Oct. 18, with the Kathina Civara Puja at 10:45 a.m.
Prior the the ceremony the Shamil and Varuni family will present the Kathina Robe to the temple at 5:30 a.m., followed by a 7 a.m. Heeldana (Breakfast for Monks), and preparing for the Buddha Puja offerings at 10 a.m., and Pindapatha (Monks on Alms round) at 10:30 a.m.
The Offering of Dana (Lunch) will be held at 11:30 a.m., followed by a sermon on benefits of Robe offering (Kathinanisansa Deshana) at noon. A devotees’ lunch and clean up will follow at 12:30 p.m.
