The 2013 JASM Annual Meeting will be held Feb. 20, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the JASM Offices, Riverplace EH-131, 43 Main Street SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414.
The Annual Meeting is a free and public event. The board and staff share with everyone the successes and challenges of the past year, elect new JASM Board Members, and discuss some of the exciting plans that JASM is planning for in 2014.
In addition, Jon Pratt, the Executive Director of the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, will talk about what is means to be a nonprofit organization in the currently challenging financial times, and the role that nonprofit organizations take on in the community. He has worked at Minnesota Public Interest Research Group as an attorney and lobbyist, as regional director at the Youth Project, and as director for the Philanthropy Project.
In 1987 he became director of MCN, an association of 2,000 organizations that sponsors research, training, lobbying and negotiated discounts to strengthen Minnesota’s nonprofit sector.
Pratt has consulted with nongovernmental organizations on the development of NGO associations and services in Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Serbia and Turkey. Pratt has a law degree from Antioch School of Law, and a M.P.A. from Harvard University.
New JASM members are especially encouraged to attend as an opportunity to network in an informative meeting setting. JASM corporate and individual members are also welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
Seats are limited so please RSVP by Feb. 18 online at http://mn-japan.org/2014/02/annual-meeting-2013.
