ST PAUL, Minn. (May 9, 2012) — After an almost year-long intensive process involving the work of Hmong Cultural Center’s staff and board of directors, HCC has earned the “Meets Standards” designation from the Saint Paul-based Charities Review Council.
Hmong Cultural Center is one of the first Asian organizations in the state of Minnesota to successfully undergo the rigorous review of organizational procedures and finances required to earn the CRC’s “Meets Standards” designation. “I am very proud that the Hmong Cultural Center has successfully earned the Meet Standards designation from the Charities Review Council,” said Txongpao Lee, executive director, Hmong Cultural Center stated. “Foundations and individual donors can make donations to Hmong Cultural Center with the knowledge that the center works hard to follow best practices in terms of organizational procedures and financial transparency and accountability.
“I am particularly proud that the center is one of very few Hmong and Asian organizations to be reviewed by the Charities Review Council and have met the rigorous standards required by the CRC,” he added.
Founded in 1992, Hmong Cultural Center’s mission is to promote the personal development of children, youth, and adults through Hmong cultural education while providing resources that enhance cross-cultural awareness and understanding between Hmong and non-Hmong persons. Hmong Cultural Center offers English as a Second Language Classes, Citizenship Classes, Qeej Instrument Instruction as well as Marriage and Funeral Song Instruction to the community.
