MINNEAPOLIS (Dec. 23, 2014) — Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau announced Tuesday the promotion of Gerald Moore to Commander effective Jan 11, 2015.
Commander Moore will be in-charge of the newly formed Recruitment and Administration Division. This division will focus on the Minneapolis Police Department’s commitment to recruiting highly qualified and diverse candidates. This division will also include the following department units: Property and Evidence, Transcription, Records, Fleet, Stores, Backgrounds, CSO, and Explorers.
Commander Moore has been with the Minneapolis Police Department since 1983 and was promoted to Sergeant in May of 1992. Commander Moore has been assigned to a number of different divisions from patrol to homicide. He also served as a Mobile Field Force Division XO (Executive Officer) at the Republican National Convention. Commander Moore is currently in charge of the professional standards backgrounds unit. Commander Moore has received a number of awards and commendations, to include: 2 Lifesaving Awards, 4 commendations, and 2 Chief’s Awards of Merit.
