MINNEAPOLIS (April 8, 2015) — The Middle East Committee of Women Against Military Madness, is sponsoring a dialogue with journalist Diana Johnstone on the topic, “Using Smart Power to Drum Up War in Ukraine & The Middle East.”
The talk with Diana Johnstone will be held via Skype from France, and will follow with a Q & A, via Skype on Saturday, April 25, 10 a.m., at Plymouth Congregational Church, 1900 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis. Croissants and café au lait will be served prior to the talk at 9:30 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Johnstone was the European editor of the In These Times, a U.S. weekly, and was the press officer of the Green Group in the European Parliament. She is also the author of “The Politics of Euromissiles: Europe in America’s Next War and Fools’ Crusade: Yugoslavia, NATO and Western Delusions.” Her new book, “Queen of Chaos: the Misadventures of Hillary Clinton,” will be published by CounterPunch in 2015.
Johnstone’s many articles, including the recent “France Under the Influence: The ambiguity of Charlie Hebdo,” have been featured in numerous international magazines and on news sites. A distinguished researcher and commentator on global politics, Diana holds a doctorate from the University of Minnesota.
Johnston was active in the movement against the Vietnam War, organizing the first international contacts between American citizens and Vietnamese representatives. She is a member of the Minneapolis-based organization,Women Against Military Madness (WAMM).
