Minneapolis, Minn. (January 25, 2011) – Yinghua Academy is hosting the first annual Lantern Festival Gala to benefit the school on February 19 from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at Shelter Studios, 2112 Broadway Street NE, Minneapolis. Tickets are $40 per person and include wine, beer, culinary samplings, and an intimate concert by nationally acclaimed jazz trio, The New Standards, and dance music by popular local DJ Jake Rudh.
A wide selection of silent auction items will be available, including airline tickets, hotel stays, Chinese imports and local art, as well as gift certificates for restaurants, shops and a variety of entertainment venues.
In China, Lantern Festival marks the end of the multi-week Chinese New Year celebration, which starts on February 6, 2011, the Year of the Rabbit. Lantern Festival is traditionally an evening celebration using lights and riddles, all of which will be incorporated into this fun, one-of-a-kind event for the Twin Cities.
Founded in 2006, Yinghua Academy is a K-8 Chinese immersion tuition-free public charter school in Northeast Minneapolis, with 375 students from over 65 zip codes in the Twin Cities metro area.
