CAPI Food Drive to Fight Hunger
0MINNEAPOLIS — Food shelves across the state are raising money and food through Minnesota FoodShare’s annual March Campaign.
Last year, the Centre for Asian and Pacific Islander’s Asian-SpecificFood Shelf celebrated its 30 year anniversary and served over 1,800 individuals and distributed over 270,000 pounds of food.
“Your donation will go farther.the more donations CAPI can raise the more funds it will receive through Minnesota FoodShare’s overall campaign,” said CAPI Executive Director Ekta Prakash. In addition, cash donations allow us the flexibility to purchase culturally-specific foods such rice and noodles.
CAPI’s food shelf provides culturally specific foods to Asian families (primarily from the Hmong, Lao, and Vietnamese communities) living at or below the poverty line.
In addition, CAPI provides nutrition, health, and referral services through its food shelf. In the summer, fresh produce from CAPI’s community gardens is donated to the food shelf.
“Also, please let us know if you or your organization is willing to host a food drive for us,” said CAPI Food Shelf Coordinator Smidchei Xiong. Donate to CAPI USA at http://givemn.razoo.com/story/Capi-Usa.
