ST. PAUL, Minn. (May 28′ 2015) – The Chamber Music Society of Minnesota under Young-Nam Kim, artistic director, presents a concert devoted to chamber works by PaUl Schoenfield, acclaimed composer and pianist, with the composer himself on piano. The concert will be held Sunday, June 7, 2015, at 4 p.m., in Sundin Music Hall, 1531 Hewitt Ave, Saint Paul, Minn.
The concert welcomes back composer/pianist Paul Schoenfield who will perform his rhapsody “The Bench of Desolation” for piano quintet and “Tango” for violin and piano. Also on the program will be his “Partita” for violin and piano, a seven-movement work written for CMSM Director Young-Nam Kim on a Schubert Club commission, and “Cafe Music” for violin, cello and piano, perhaps Paul Schoenfield’s most popular work.
The concert will also celebrate the release of a CD: Music for Friends, by Paul Schoenfield containing “Partita”, “Cafe Music” and “Three Country Fiddle Pieces” which was also written for Young-Nam Kim. The CD is notable in that all three works are played by Young-Nam Kim and Paul Schoenfield and represents a culmination of their 45-year friendship.
