MINNEAPOLIS (Jan. 18, 2012) — Farview 13u Hmong Soccer Team was presented the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation League Citywide Good Sportsmanship Award last week.

Farview Park is located in North Minneapolis. All the players are Hmong, and most came to the United States from Thailand’s Wat Tham Krabok refugee camp in 2004 and 2005

Hmong College Prep Academy teams wrap up successful fall season

ST. PAUL — The Hmong College Prep Academy Warrior Girls’ Volleyball Team recently wrapped up their fall season. The team took 3rd in the Eastern Minnesota Athletic Conference with an 8-6 record.

“This season was filled with many ups and downs,” stated Coach Fong Vang.  “We struggled out of the gate, losing our first four games.  We eventually had a ‘heart to heart’ team meeting which really set the tone for the rest of the season.”

ST. PAUL, Minn. (February 1, 2011) – Hmong, summer and soccer are three in the same as indicated by the number of tournaments – and a new tournament is designed to showcase the best Hmong players and get back the purity of the sport.

Blong Yang, a local attorney who helped to establish the Hmong American Bar Association, and Dao Her, an IT professional at Western Bank, have established the first Annual HMOOB CUP from August 4-7, 2011 at the Seafoam Stadium of Concordia University in St. Paul. They expect to bring teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, California, Michigan, North Carolina, Colorado, and other states with Hmong populations.

Athens, Greece (December 14, 2010) – More than 33,000 football fans demonstrated their support Tuesday for the people of Pakistan and Haiti by filling the Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus, Greece, to watch top players reach a 2-2 draw in the eighth Match Against Poverty. As in previous years, the United Nations Development Program and two of its goodwill ambassadors, Zinédine Zidane and Ronaldo, organized the match in support of the Millennium Development Goals which seek to reduce poverty and improve livelihoods worldwide by the year 2015.
