Cycling Training to Immigrants, Refugees

ST. PAUL — The Community Partners Bike Library, a program of the nonprofit community bike shop Cycles for Change in Saint Paul, will deliver bicycles for loan to clients of the Ronald M. Hubbs Center for Lifelong Learning on Friday, April 27.

The Hubbs Center is an Adult Basic Education program of the Saint Paul Public Schools’ Community Education Department serving adult learners including immigrants and refugees from Southeast Asia. The mission of Saint Paul Public Schools Adult Basic Education is to provide adults with educational opportunities to acquire and improve their literacy skills necessary to be self-sufficient and to participate effectively as productive workers, family members, and citizens.

Think Small partners meet Karen childcare needs

ST. PAUL (Feb. 27, 2012) — With 18 Karen “Family, Friend or Neighbors” providers attending a Shaken Baby Syndrome seminar on Monday at the Karen Organization of Minnesota.

The training organized by Think Small, a leader in early learning provider training for over 30 years. It offered valuable instruction for unlicensed “FFN” providers in prevention and care training for children.

Karen New Year 2750

The Karen community of Minnesota will celebrate the New Year 2750 with a public event on Saturday, January 8, 2011, from noon to 3:00 p.m. at Washington Technology Magnet Middle School, 1495 Rice Street, Saint Paul, MN, 55117. The Karen New Year is celebrated around the world with traditional Karen dancing and music, sport tournaments, and traditional Karen food. It is also a chance for us to share our culture with our new neighbors and friends.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (December 9, 2010) – Vietnamese Social Services of Minnesota is heading for a new home – with more space for growing programs and the new communities its serves. VSS will move its staff and programs serving hundreds of people each year to 277 University Avenue in St. Paul. VSS will be moving out this week and will have an open house on December 28, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
