WASHINGTON (April 6, 2012) — An unprecedented convergence of Asian American literature and visual art will present seven writers reading and discussing their work, commissioned in response to ‘Portraiture Now: Asian American Portraits of Encounter,’ the first major exhibit of Asian American visual artists at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery’s Nan Tucker McEvoy Auditorium.

This fall, three award-winning Lao American writers hope to tour across the Midwest.
In “Yellow: Where we can be, An Anthology of the Asian American Teenagers’ Experience,” youth from the Twin Cities Metro area tell and write of their experience growing up Asian American. Within 100 pages, the book offers photos, poetry, prose, and profiles of the members of the Asian Pacific Leadership Council in an effort to provide understanding and be a source of information for many on the lives and experiences of today’s Asian American youth.
