Indian Music Society of Minnesota is celebrating 32 Years of Bringing the Best in Indian Classical Music with its next Spring 2012 Season concert at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at HHH Cowles Auditorium, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
The concernt will feature Sarod (Hindustani instrumental) recital by Alam Khan, son of the legendary Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
In its celebration of bringing the best in Indian classical music to Minnesota for the past 31 years, the Indian Music Society of Minnesota presents young maestros Ritesh and Rajnish Mishra are representing the sixth generation of great musicians, including the world renowned Pts. Rajan and Sajan Mishra.
IMSOM is planning to kick off its 31st year with a Hindustani vocal concert by Manjiri Asanare-Kelkar on Sunday, April 10, 2011, 5:00 p.m. at the University of Minnesota’s St. Paul Campus Student Center, 2017 Buford Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55108-1011. Kelkar is a young and talented Hindustani Classical Vocalist, who has inherited the rich tradition of Jaipur Atrauli gharana from Pt. Kanetkar, himself a disciple of Ustad Bhurji Khansaheb.

Los Angeles (Feb. 13, 2011) – Composer Christopher Tin received Grammy Awards in both of the categories he was nominated in Sunday at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards Sunday, at Staples Center in Los Angeles. It was also a good night for several other Asian composers and performers.
