ST. PAUL (Jan. 2, 2014) — Ryan Companies has hired three Minnesota-based subcontractors to complete electrical, mechanical, and fire protection work on the Lowertown Ballpark.
All three companies have been hired as design-build subcontractors, meaning they will complete the design for their scope of work and then construct it.
Saint Paul-based Hunt Electric will design and build the ballpark’s electrical systems. The company is currently working on a new hotel at the Mall of America, the new Surly brewery in Minneapolis, and Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Schadegg Mechanical Inc., based in South Saint Paul, will be the mechanical contractor, which includes the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system and plumbing. The company has previously done work for The St. Paul Union Depot, Treasure Island Resort and Casino, the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center, and Minnesota Department of Human Services.
Skyline Fire Protection in Maple Grove will design and build the ballpark’s fire protection system, including fire alarms, fire pumps, and a sprinkler system. The company is currently working on the Schmidt Brewery, and has previously designed fire protection systems for the Walker Art Center, MacPhail Center for Music, Macalester College, and the University of St. Thomas.
“One of our goals for the Lowertown Ballpark is to always work with the best companies and Minnesota companies whenever possible. We are confident in the abilities of Hunt, Schadegg, and Skyline, and know they will help us build an amazing new ballpark,” said Mark Maghrak, team leader for Ryan Companies.
Construction of the Lowertown Ballpark will begin in spring 2014.
The Lowertown Ballpark will be home to the Saint Paul Saints and amateur baseball teams from across the region. It is expected to bring 400,000 people per year to downtown Saint Paul and will have a yearly economic impact in the millions of dollars. The project is expected to create 500 full- and part-time jobs and will become a center for statewide youth and amateur sporting events. To learn more, please visit www.lowertownballpark.com.
