Washington, D.C. – Director Patricia M. Loui, a member of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) board, received the U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation’s Corporate Director’s Award this week. The award, which was presented at the CelebrAsian Business Opportunity Conference in Bethesda, Md., recognized her role in corporate governance over the span of three decades, especially her service on the board of the Bank.
Loui, a Honolulu native whose father was second-generation Chinese and mother second-generation Japanese, has forged a long career promoting business ties with Asian nations.
“I was honored and delighted to be among the other four directors honored by USPAACC,” said Loui. “They are all outstanding corporate leaders who are giving back to their communities. The almost 400 participants at the CelebrAsianconference are also to be congratulated. They are focused on growing exports to Asian markets through USPAACC’s trade missions and pro-actively developing new strategies to work with diversity contracting offices of multinational corporations.”
Loui brought greetings from President Barack Obama and informed the audience of the success of the President’s National Export Initiative.
“With the NEI on pace to double exports by 2015,” she continued, “the Administration’s re-balancing to Asia, and the record levels of support from agencies like the Export-Import Bank, the Small Business Administration and the Minority Business Development Agency, it’s a great time for Asian-Americans to be in business.”
She then thanked the Asian-American business participants and USPAACC for recognizing the importance of exporting to the strength and sustainability of the U.S. economy.
Loui joined Ex-Im Bank’s board of directors in November, 2011 after a unanimous Senate confirmation, and her programs at the Bank include advocacy for exports to Asia. She previously served as chair of OmniTrak Group Inc., a market research and planning firm she founded to assist business expansion in both the United States and Asia.
Loui was one of five Asian-American directors to be honored. The other recipients hail from a vast array of prestigious organizations, including Wells Fargo, General Atlantic, News Corporation, ConAgra Foods and Pacific Life.
