US-China Business Connections will hold its June Networking and Breakfast event on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the University of St. Thomas, Opus Hall-Room 201, Minneapolis, MN 55403. This meeting features a panel presentation on “The Rule of Commercial Law in China: A Journey of A Million Miles.
Presenter Seymour Mansfield, of Foley & Mansfield will discuss China’s rule of commercial law as a work in progress, with notable recent advances, but a long way to go in a counter intuitive and unique preventive legal approach that he says is often necessary. His Panel will provide a primer the state of commercial law and insights on ways to improve your legal odds.
Panel member Ron J. Xu is founding partner of Sphere-Logic Partners in Xiamen, China. His practice has a focus on business corporate and intellectual property law. Seymour and Ron frequently collaborate in advising clients in US-China matters.
Panel member Michael Digkas is a Foreign Law and China Consultant for Foley & Mansfield. A licensed Greek lawyer who ran his own law firm in Greece, Michael now lives and works in Beijing.
Seymour Mansfield is an active UCBC member and director. With more than 40 years of diverse legal experience, he now focuses his practice on international business matters – specifically US-Chinese business deals and disputes, commercial litigation, executive/professional employment matters, and early stage medical devices ventures.
The Networking and Breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by Welcome and Introductions at 7:50 a.m. The Presentation begins at 8 a.m., followed by optional networking at 9 a.m. The event fee is $30 and students get in free.
