NetIP NA President
(Jan. 22, 2014) — NetIP North America is excited to start this New Year with our theme of Resurgence: Rising to New Heights.
How would you like to rise to new heights this year? Our chapter officers are committing to attending nonprofit officer training this quarter to take their leadership abilities to the next level.
What does this mean for you? They will be creating even more valuable events for your communities this year. Be sure to check your local chapter websites to engage in active networking and start this year out strong. It’s time to network and make new connections while strengthening the old. As the old adage goes, make new friends but keep keep the old, one is silver, the other gold.
As we start the new year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the last. This past year, our chapters across North America came together to fundraise and volunteer at charities across North America for our Charity is Colorblind (CiC) campaign.
At our 22nd Annual NetIP NA Conference in San Francisco, CA over Labor Day weekend 2013, we were able to contribute to these CiC efforts in a grand scale by building hygiene packets for the homeless to be delivered by the Salvation Army. We also hosted a Charity Gala that raised over $23,000 for the Smithsonian Indian American Heritage Project: Beyond Bollywood, Indian Americans Shape the Nation exhibition in a live 15 minute auction.
This Smithsonian exhibition is set to be open in February, 2014 in Washington, D.C. – yes, that’s right, next month! If you are in the D.C. area, we encourage you to explore this exhibition. It will eventually be traveling across the U.S. We are excited to have supported such a ground-breaking and important cultural project.
The NetIP Foundation itself donated $2,500 at the auction and will be recognized in prosperity as a Founders’ Circle Donor for this enlightening, educational, and inspirational exhibition.
Lastly, I am excited to return in 2014 for my second term as President of NetIP North America with an amazing team of dedicated volunteers and inspirational leaders: Sameer Jain, Director of Operations; Aditi Ramchandani, VP External Affairs; Archith Seshadri, VP Internal Affairs; Dhaval Shah, VP Finance & Administration; Manjesh Reddy, VP Technology; Anand Bhika, VP Events, and Director of the 2014 NetIP NA Annual Conference, Atlanta, GA (Labor Day Weekend).
I give thanks to the 2013 executive team and members of our chapter boards for their service this year and for the legacy they leave behind for their incoming team. I hope that many of them will stay on as advisers and provide guidance as needed. Thanks also to all our alliance partners, radio show guests, sponsors, and advertisers. Your support this year has been invaluable and we look forward to working with you all again next year.
From all of us here at NetIP, we wish you the best of luck this year to come and are excited for our year ahead with you.
