MINNEAPOLIS — Japan America Society of Minnesota presents the JASM Corporate Roundtable on Wedneday, March 5, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Dorsey & Whitney LLP, 50 South Sixth Street, Suite 1500, Minneapolis, MN 55402.
Guest speakers Miyako Yoshida and Hiroki Kaga will discuss “The Japanese Perspective: Hot Topics in Japan and Negotiating Tips.”
The two aspiring lawyers from Japan are on short term assignments with Dorsey & Whitney and will provide insight into legal perspective of Japan. There will be time for questions and lively discussion.
The presentation topics include: Globalization of Japanese Companies; Merging and Acquisition of large companies; and How the new legal structure in Japan impacts the way business is done in Japan for U.S. firms.
Miyako Yoshida received her LL.B. degree from Waseda University in 2004 and is on a leave of absence from the Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. where she has worked as an Associate in their legal department. She just completed an LL.M. degree at the University of Minnesota.
Hiroki Kaga graduated from Tokyo University. He is on a two-year leave of absence from Nishimura & Asahi, Japan’s largest law firm, where he worked for six years, including two years on secondment to the M&A division of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. He completed an LL.M. degree at New York University Law School in 2013 and passed the New York bar exam.
The cost is $20 for non-members and $7 for students. Validated parking at the Dorsey Ramp/50 South Sixth Street for levels 4-8 only in the 50 South Sixth Street ramp.
