The Minneapolis media arts college, IPR, will present a seminar on Saturday May 4th, 2013 for anyone interested in learning more about the evolving business of marketing music. Joining Executive Program Chair Mitch Hare from IPR will be Kevin Beacham, Skye Rossi, and Ashanti Abdullah from Rhymesayers Entertainment who will talk about the history of the local hip hop music label and discuss emerging entertainment marketing techniques.
The increasing use of the internet for distribution and social media are changing the way musicians and labels are doing business. Rhymesayers represents a successful example of a new model for music business with its use of techniques that include internet, lifestyle and social media marketing along with a strong retail and merchandising presence.
The seminar which is free and open to the public, presents a unique chance for artists, music fans and entrepreneurs to connect with music business professionals learn more about the label’s unique story of growth and success in the challenging music industry.
The event takes place from 1:00 to 2:30 at IPR, 300 North 1st Avenue, Suite 500, Minneapolis, MN 55401 with registration starting at 12:30. It will conclude with questions from the audience and the opportunity to meet with the Rhymesayers staff.
