LOS ANGELES (Oct. 4, 2012) — Bank of America presented KCCD founder and CEO Hyepin Im with a community grant check for $10,000.
Upon receiving the check, Hyepin Im expressed her gratitude at the opportunity to work with both the bank and the local branch towards strengthening the community.
“We’ve educated over 7,000 potential homeowners about the homebuying process throughout our ten year history and have connected buyers with over $1.4 millions in down payment assistance. Bank of America was our very first sponsor for our 1st Homeownership Fair and has been a strong supporter over the years.” said Im. “We are deeply appreciative to Bank of America for this grant, and we look forward to applying it towards more of our home ownership and community projects.”
The check was presented by Fernando Gutierrez, Vice President of the Consumer Market Manager sector for Los Angeles, along with Christina Chung, Banking Manager at the Wilshire Center branch and Eric J. Lee, Eric J. Lee, VP and Banking Manager for the Western and Olympic branch.
Fernando Gutierrez commented, “Bank of America is very committed to the community, andKCCD exemplifies what we’re looking for when we talk about reinvesting and growing our communities.” said Gutierrez. “We’re committed to helping our citizens realize their home ownership and education dreams, and whatever other goals they may aspire to. This grant is the perfect opportunity to showcase our commitment to working with KCCD and the community.”
Echoing Gutierrez’s sentiments, Christina Chung remarked that the bank was strongly committed in being local and personal, and the grant was their way of reaching out to the community in Koreatown.
“We think the work that KCCD is doing,” said Chung, “…really is a bridge way for an individual to have a self-enriching life of information and support, and we are there to help you with those goals through the presentation of this grant.”
Eric J. Lee also expressed support of his colleagues stating,”I think this is the first step to move forward with KCCD, and for Bank of America and KCCD to join together in partnership. We will be there for you to reach out to the community. It’s our commitment and our passion.”

Since 2001, KCCD has helped educate over 7000 homeowners and have assisted homeowners with $1.4 million in down payment assistance. KCCD has also helped save an estimated $83 million in mortgages, and other related housing issues.
