LOS ANGELES (March 22, 2011) – The recent announcement by AT&T, Inc. and T-Mobile USA of a definitive acquisition agreement bodes well for supplier diversity, investment, and economic development. For these reasons, the Asian Business Association strongly supports this important transaction and looks forward to its completion.
AT&T has one of the finest supplier diversity programs in all of business, and was recognized by ABA for its Corporate Leadership Award in 1997. The acquisition of T-Mobile USA will allow the supplier diversity program to be expanded to accommodate the needs of this great and growing company here in America.
Building off AT&T, Inc.’s commitment to supplier diversity, with this acquisition T-Mobile USA’s supplier needs will come to fall under the AT&T program, which has provided opportunity for businesses and suppliers owned by Asians, African-Americans, and Latinos, among others.
Furthermore, this agreement will positively affect investment and economic development, as these two companies together will share a technologically compatible network offering fast and efficient solutions that allow them to meet consumer demand for wireless broadband, better service, and help drive economic growth resulting from increased investment in advance technology and in wireless broadband networks.
Supplier diversity, investment, and economic development are all tremendously enhanced by this transaction. For these reasons, the Asian Business Association of Los Angeles welcomes this transaction and actively anticipates its approval.
