Wing Young Huie to deliver keynote at the 8th Facing Race Ambassador Awards

Photographer Wing Young Huie will deliver the keynote address at the 2014 Ambassador Awards ceremony on Monday, April 7, at 6 p.m., at the Crowne Plaza Saint Paul Riverfront Hotel, 11 Kellogg Boulevard East, St. Paul, MN 55101.

The event is to honor individuals working to build communities where everyone feels safe, valued and respected.

Celebrated photographer Wing Young Huie documents the socioeconomic and cultural realities of American society. He engages contrasting points of view when he presents photographs and asks, “What do you see?” He then facilitates dialogue around cultural and personal perceptions, creating a challenging yet safe environment for discussion.

The 2014 Ambassador Award Recipients include:

• Jada Sherrie Mitchell, Tartan High School Student and Youth Leader

• Justin Terrell, TakeAction Minnesota

The 2014 Honorable Mentions include:

• Jennifer Godinez, Minnesota Minority Education Partnership

• Bukata Hayes, Greater Mankato Diversity Council

• Dr. Cecilia Martinez, Center for Earth, Energy and Democracy

Admission is free; seating is limited. RSVP by March 28 by calling 651-325-4265.

Parking is available for $5 at Crowne Plaza and Capital City Parking Ramps, and $10 valet parking at Crowne Plaza.
