ECHO and ClearWay Minnesota announce the airing of a DVD on its newest program, “The Harm of Commercial Tobacco in Our Community.”
Tobacco causes thousands of deaths each year in Minnesota. Tobacco products are addictive. But many people are able to quit every day.
The 20 to 30 minute program is available in eight languages (English, Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Vietnamese, Lao, Khmer, and Karen) and features guest experts from each culture having a candid discussion about the dangers of smoking. The video discusses how tobacco can cause serious health problems or death, places to find help and support for those trying to quit using tobacco, and more.
The program helps to educate diverse populations about the dangers of tobacco. It discusses the seriousness of tobacco use, the targeting of immigrants and ethnic groups by tobacco companies, and the benefits to quitting.
