ST. PAUL — Audiences can sample a dozen high quality local arts events in the Weyerhaeuser Auditorium at Landmark Center, 75 Fifth St, St Paul, MN 55102.
Sample Night Live presents its 7th Annual Audience Favorites Show on Wednesday, December 3rd, featuring a dozen arts organizations offering ten-minute samples of upcoming and ongoing works. Seven visual artists and arts organizations will display and sell work in the lobby. The first act, at 7 p.m., is G-rated and family friendly, the second act is unrated and uncensored. Tickets to the show – good for either or both acts – are $10-$20 (children under 12 get in free) and can be purchased online at SampleNightLive.com or by calling the box office at 651-788-5992. A limited amount of discounted Early Bird Tickets are available at SampleNightLive.com.
The show will be hosted by Lounge-asaurus Rex and will feature on stage samples from Irish dance company Rince Na Chroi, Big Fun Radio Time (radio theater), world music by Greg Herriges, Theatre of Fools, jazz artist PaviElle, burlesque performance by Sweetpea, stand up comedy by Jenn Schaal and Maggie Faris, music by Chris Herriges, The Dregs, and Thomasina Petrus, a theatrical preview of A Very Die Hard Christmas, and Sample Night Live’s house band, The Smarts. The lobby will feature visual art by Brenda Manthe, Artist Mercantile, Philip Noyed, Angela Kuyper, Lauralee Simons, Lauren Strom, and Heartland Parenting.
Audience members have the opportunity to opt-in to the mailing lists of artists they like are automatically entered to win tickets and other goodies donated by the evening’s performers and visual artists. Items given away December 3 include: Tickets to Sample Night Live’s January 7 Annual Staff Picks Show; CDs from The Smarts, Greg Herriges, PaviElle, Chris Herriges, Thomasina Petrus; an emergency clown nose from Theatre of Fools; art by Brenda Manthe, a gift certificate to Artist Mercantile, and tickets to Park Square and The Ordway.
Sample Night Live connects high-quality local arts organizations to new audiences with a fun, casual, show the first Wednesday of the month. Named in Minnesota Monthly’s prestigious “Best of” issue, the magazine describes Sample Night Live as “a smorgasbord” of art “teasingly proffered in a single evening like theatrical channel surfing.” Since its inception in 2008, Sample Night Live has provided nearly 700 arts organizations with more than 15,000 new fans.
