In today’s entertainment scene, to find an artist who is not only able to really sing, but read and write music, as well as produce her own videos is an absolute rarity. In steps Baiyu.
Born in Xiamen, China to musically gifted parents, Baiyu moved to the United States at the age of 8. From the onset, she has been forging her musical path, taking her talents from school choir member to lead vocalist in the Princeton University jazz ensemble — where she was also the director of the Black Arts Dance Company.
After finishing her three year stint as a VJ for MTVu’s hit show “The Freshmen”, Baiyu released her first EP “B-Side” in 2010 which generated much acclaim along with airplay on numerous college radio stations. She has since then been featured in Celebuzz, The Source, MTVIggy, SoulTrain.com, Global Grind, Hip Hop Weekly, and various other blogs and magazines. In 2011 Baiyu has decided to donate all proceeds from her latest EP “Fan Fair” towards Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief.
