Steve Ackerman’s “Kaboom! A Puppet Show”, from Oct. 10-18, 2014, at Bedlam Lowertown, 213 East 4th Street, St. Paul, MN 55101.
Steve Ackerman, creator of last year’s smash hit Cartooon!, is on loan from Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater to Bedlam Lowertown to create Kaboom!, a simple puppet show exploring comic books, complete with a cardboard comic book cityscape set up around the venue.
Kaboom! has superheroes, villains, henchmen, radiation, parents dying, things biting you, rescue scenes, rampaging monsters let forth from other dimensions, superheroes on garden rakes so that when you step on the garden rakes, the superheroes pop up, scenes of muscles bulging, throbbing, thighs-oiled up, veins being all veiny. X-ray vision, super strength, rocket feet that allow you hang out a couple feet from the ground, lasers that you can shoot from your fingertips, bank heists, exploding things, and secret identities that cause you to have to change your clothes really fast.
Performances will be held Friday, Oct. 10, Saturday, Oct. 11, Sunday, Oct. 12, Monday, Oct. 13 (PWYC), Wednesday, Oct. 15, Thursday, Oct. 16, Friday, Oct. 17, and Saturday, Oct. 18. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $15. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
