LOS ANGELES — Two pilots must set aside their differences and lead the way to rescue a comrade and prevent war in the action-packed drama Black Eagle, flying onto DVD March 12 from CJ Entertainment America.
Black Eagle (115 Minutes – Not Rated), an action-drama from the Republic of Korea (with English dub and subtitles) is about to be released in DVD with special features on March 12, 2013.
After pulling a dangerous, daredevil stunt at an air show, hotshot elite Air Force pilot Tae-hun (Jung Ji-hoon, aka “Rain,” Ninja Assassin, Speed Racer) is kicked off the military’s top-notch Black Eagle air team and demoted into combat.
Arriving at his new unit, the talented but reckless fighter is quickly popular with the majority of the squad, even sparking a heated romance with the lovely Se-yeong, the wing’s best technician, whose faulty hearing is the only thing keeping her out of the air. But Tae-hun’s brash ways soon cause tension with the unit’s own ace top gun, the strait-laced Cheol-hui (Yu Jun-sang, In Another Country, The Day He Arrives).
When a North Korean MIG fighter enters their air space, a reconnaissance mission erupts into a fierce dogfight, leaving one team member dead and another missing. Now, with just minutes to pull off the biggest airborne mission in history, they must set aside their differences and lead the way to rescue their comrade and prevent war.
Despite becoming the youngest member ever to enter the R.O.K.’s special flight squad, the Black Eagles, Tae-hun’s (Jung Ji-Hoon) daredevil antics eventually get him kicked off the team and demoted into the 21st Fighter Wing. His ego is humbled when challenged — and defeated — in a duel by the fighter wing’s own top gun, Cheol-hui.
Se-yeong (Shin Se-Kyung) is the wing’s top maintenance technician at the top of her game. Despite her innocent exterior, she becomes tough in order to ensure that her fighter jets are in perfect condition and ready to go. With a secret from her past that keeps her attached to the art of aviation, Se-yeong is assigned to repair the demoted Tae-hun’s fighter jet.
As 21st Fighter Wing’s Falcon squad leader, Cheol-hui (Yu Jun-Sang) has never lost a flight competition in his career. Known as the “Top Gun” of his wing, he leads his squad with a systematic attitude and teaches through strict example. Cheol-hui finds the playful and high-spirited Tae-hun irritating, and the two are constantly at each other’s throats.
One of the wing’s most skilled pilots and also Tae-hun’s former flight school classmate, Yu-jin (Lee Ha-Na) helps Tae-hun adjust to the new squad. Her honest and easy-going attitude helps her do her job, but when it comes to her long-term crush, Dae-seo, she can’t quite express her feelings.
Dae-seo (Kim Sung-Soo) is the compassionate leader of the Eagle Squad willing to go to great lengths to protect his teammates. After the death of his wife, he takes care of his young son alone, but his squadmate Yu-jin frequently helps the family out, and he develops deep feelings for her.
Seok-hyeon (Lee Jong-Suk) is the youngest addition to the squad. He’s clumsy, only does what he’s told, and has an inconvenient fear of aerial training. He admires Tae-hun, who possesses the skills that he can only dream of.
Black Eagle is presented in widescreen (aspect ratio: 2.35:1) and 5.1 Dolby Digital sound with English dub and subtitles. Special features include “Sortie’s Ready! 500 Days of Filming,” “Pilot G-Force Test” and “Characters” featurettes; behind-the-scenes; outtakes and trailers.
