WASHINGTON, D.C. (Feb. 2, 2012) — Following recent high-profile military hazing cases, members of the House of Representatives, family members of victims, and a community advocate joined forces Thursday to call for immediate action from the highest levels in the military to stop hazing.

NEW YORK (Feb. 3, 2012) — The United Nations-backed war crimes tribunal in Cambodia has ordered the Khmer Rouge’s main jailer to spend the rest of his life in prison for crimes it says were “among the worst in recorded human history.”
The ruling increased a lower court’s 19-year sentence that had been appealed by prosecutors as too lenient.
Century College will hold auditions for its spring musical “The Pirates of Penzance” on Feb. 6, 7 and 8. Community members are encouraged to audition. Performances will be April 13 to 29 on the weekends.
The Feb. 6 and 7 auditions will be between 6 and 9 p.m., and Feb. 8 will be from 6 to 8 p.m. They will be held in the West Campus Theatre.
A bicoastal sold-out U.S. tour last year was simply not enough for Aziatix and their fans. To kick off 2012, the starpower trio has announced a 13-city tour starting in February, including a show at the Fine Line Music Café in Minneapolis on Feb. 27.

LAS VEGAS (Jan. 31, 2012) — Kung Fu Plaza, which is the oldest and most authentic Thai restaurant in Las Vegas, is adding a selection of wines from Elvis Presley Wine Cellars of the San Joaquin valley of California.
Last year, Kung Fu Plaza added wines from the William Hill Estate Winery in support of local music programs and the VH1 Save The Music Foundation. The fundraising effort concluded at the end of last April.
MINNEAPOLIS (Jan. 26, 2012) — Landmark Theatres and Swervo Development have announced plans to completely refurbish and renovate the historic Uptown Theatre in Minneapolis.

Minnesota’s 37-word bullying prevention law is considered one of the weakest in America and Students Demanding Change is working hard to change that. The Twin Cities-based, student-led organization will hold a rally at the Minnesota State Capitol on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
